Carbon black is a highly pigmented black pigment made from the soot of burned oil or gas. Carbon black is one fo the oldest pigments used by humans, and it is still widely used today.  It is valued for its deep black colour, excellent tinting strength and good lightfastness.
 
Our synthetic Carbon Black pigment replicates the deep, rich black colour of the traditional pigment, and has a neutral hue. It is ideal for use in a wide range of media, including acrylics, oils, and watercolours.
 
Carbon black is a deep black with excellent coverage in a transparent binder.  It is solid neutral grey in a white binder. 
Carbon black is the ‘blackest black’ in our range and has the strongest colouring power.

Colour: 360 Black
Description: Noir 360 is a synthetic pigment without any danger for health or the environment, made in Germany. It is the black of our range that has the strongest coloring power.
 
Use : lime, wax, paint, plaster, fresco, glaze, cement, fine arts.
This pigment is in powder. For use in artistic painting, it should be ground finely in a mortar before mixing it with the binder.
Noir 360 mixed with linseed oil
Linseed oil : dissolve the powder in a little bit of turpentine before adding it to the linseed oil (see photo above for colour)
Water-based paint/fatty lime : dilute the pigment in some water to make it liquid before incorporating it into the paint.
Lime powder/cement/plaster : directly incorporate the pigment (up to 10% based on the weight of the binder), then mix in order to stain all of your binder.
Maximum dosage : The maximum dosage is 10% compared to the binder used. Above 10% it is recommended to incorporate fixators and adjuvant (lime use).
 
Color : deep black, very covering with a transparent binder. Solid gray, neutral, with a white binder. Black 360 has the strongest covering power of all blacks in our range. 
 
This pigment is 100% synthetic and is non-toxic and safe for your health and the environgment.
