History : the color of the famous San Francisco Bridge, "The Golden Gate", is officially called "International Orange". The color has been created from a protective anticorrosion layer placed on the deck steel. The architect decided, despite the many criticisms, to let this color while the Navy wanted it yellow with black stripes to facilitate visibility.
First painted with paint lead, then vinyl, it has been replaced since 1990 by an acrylic paint. 20 000 liters of paint are required each year for the maintenance of the bridge.
It is by reading this story, which left us dreamers, that Ocres de France made, in 2018, the pigment Rouge San Francisco
